TELL SPEAKER BOEHNER AND THE REPUBLICANS THAT WOMEN MATTER
The Republican’s recent attacks on women’s personal liberty and women’s health are just plain wrong and we need to fight back. These attacks on women are stunning in their scope, appalling in their indifference, and outrageous in their arrogance.The Republicans in the House voted to deny Planned Parenthood all Title X family planning funding with the Pence Amendment. This bill threatens to deny millions access to HIV testing, birth control, and other family planning services—jeopardizing millions of lives.
And the Pence Amendment isn’t the only recent Republican attack on women.
HR 358 dubbed by some as the “Let Women Die Act” threatens to allow medical providers to deny treatment to women whose lives are at risk if the treatment might harm the fetus.
HR 3, the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act”, threatens to restrict any health insurance plan from covering an abortion.
The original language of H.R. 3 even attempted to redefine rape to exclude assaults involving drugs, coercion, loss of consciousness, and statutory rape.
Even one of our most recent victories for women, tax deductions on breastfeeding equipment, has been met with Republican hostility and criticism.
And to top it all off, in a recent interview Supreme Court Justice Scalia said that the Constitution does not protect women from discrimination.
Not one of these Republican proposals would create a single job, decrease the deficit, expand the economy, increase our freedom, or insure our liberty.
These recent Republican attacks on women’s personal liberty and women’s health make it clear that the Republicans think that women don’t matter and we need to stand up and organize.
Sign this petition today and tell Speaker Boehner and the Republicans that they’re wrong, that women DO matter and that we want this new Republican war against women to stop now. Radical Republican extremists made a lot of noise in the last election, but now it’s our turn to speak out and tell them not to use women’s rights as a tool of their radical agenda.
