City Pols Criticize Romney Over Personal Finance Records

Some local politicians are taking shots at Mitt Romney's personal finances as the former Massachusetts governor raises campaign cash around New York.

The GOP presidential candidate frontrunner made a stop in the city Monday morning and did some fundraising in the Hamptons over the weekend.

Several prominent Democrats meanwhile are criticizing him for his limited personal disclosures.

They blasted Romney for only releasing some of his income statements and for reportedly holding large amounts of money in secret offshore accounts.

"Come clean about your investments and release a sufficient number of tax returns to the American people," said City Council Speaker Christine Quinn.

"The closer you look, the more questions are raised, each and every day," said Former City Comptroller Bill Thompson.

"New Yorkers love success, what we are criticizing today, is secrecy," said Rep. Carolyn Maloney.
