AP: NYC embraces idea of parade honoring 9/11 responders

New York City officials are welcoming a congresswoman’s proposal for a parade honoring 9/11 responders and survivors.

Rep. Carolyn Maloney made the suggestion in a letter Friday to Mayor Bill de Blasio, a fellow Democrat.

Maloney says a parade in the city’s famed Canyon of Heroes would be “a small but meaningful way to show our gratitude” to police, firefighters and others who responded to and survived the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
