Congress Member Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12) attended the Kavanaugh confirmation hearing on September 27 in support of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford after joining 64 of her House colleagues in urging Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to “postpone any proceedings on Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court until a thorough FBI investigation into the multiple allegations of sexual assault and misconduct be completed.” You can see the full letter sent by the 65 Democratic members online. The vote did end up being postponed pending an FBI investigation of the allegations by Ford.

“No one should ever experience what Dr. Ford went through or what she is going through today,” said Rep. Maloney. “I hope the courage it has taken for Dr. Ford to share her story and appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee today is recognized by everyone in this country. It is not easy to come forward and speak about such a traumatic experience and saying thank you to Dr. Ford doesn’t even begin to cut it. I felt it was important to be in the room today to show Dr. Ford that I, and so many others, stand with her and believe her.”
