A local Congresswoman wants to make the ‘Fearless Girl’ a permanent fixture in Lower Manhattan.
Carolyn Maloney says Mayor Bill de Blasio should allow the statue to remain just steps from the famous Charging Bull.
The fearless girl first appeared back in March, and has quickly become a tourist attraction and a symbol of female empowerment.
“I think that the fearless girl has inspired young girls and boys and women around the world to stand up, and look how proud she is,” said Congresswoman Maloney.
The statue was commissioned as a temporary installation by an investment firm, to call attention to the lack of women on corporate boards.
The Mayor has promised to keep the Fearless Girl in place for a year, and is reviewing whether it should remain beyond that.
