Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney gathered with students from across New York’s 12th Congressional District on September 10 for the inaugural meeting of her Congressional Youth Cabinet (CYC). These 23 exceptional students were chosen from dozens of applications that came from every corner of the 12th Congressional District. “I am thrilled to be kicking off this new initiative in my district,” said Congresswoman Maloney. “These students represent some of the brightest and most engaged minds in NY-12, and I look forward to working with them on the issues that matter most to our youth. Although they are still too young to vote, it is never too early to get involved in serving your community. There is so much at stake for young people and their voices need to be heard.” The CYC is a non-political, non-partisan, permanent entity in which these students will act as the Congresswoman’s advisors on policy issues affecting young New Yorkers. Cabinet members will discuss their concerns at monthly meetings. Each of these unique individuals brings a perspective that will provide a vast and thorough understanding of issues pertaining to the youth in Congresswoman Maloney’s district.
