Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney released the following statement after the shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, NV.
“Once again today, we are mourning the loss of dozens of innocent lives and the injury of dozens more, all victims of another madman with a gun.
“As we wait for answers as to how this happened and what the shooter’s motivations were, one thing is clear: enough is enough. It is time for Congress to act. It is time for us to stop just sending our ‘thoughts and prayers’ and time for us to get serious about gun safety.
“When it comes to our annual bloody toll from gun violence, America is shamefully unique among the economically advanced nations of the world. Congress’s chief responsibility is to keep Americans safe. On that, Congress is failing. Congress need to act.
“My heart breaks for the victims, their loved ones and all those injured last night. I call on my colleagues to show that they care by doing something to prevent the next senseless tragedy.”
