New York, NY - Last week, the Stonewall Democratic Club endorsed Carolyn B. Maloney for re-election to represent New York’s 12th Congressional District. The Congresswoman secured the support of 7 former Club presidents and one of the club’s founding members.
“Stonewall Democrats are proud to support Carolyn Maloney because she’s an extraordinarily effective Member of Congress and longtime friend of the LGBTQ+ community. It’s not just that Carolyn Maloney has been an outstanding champion for women, for LGBTQ+ rights, and for New York throughout her career. Carolyn introduced New York City’s first-ever legislation to grant legal status to same-sex couples; was the first New York elected official to focus a national spotlight on human rights abuses of LGBTQ+ people in Uganda; and is using her powerful platform as Chair of the House Oversight Committee to press the Biden administration on its halting response to the Monkeypox outbreak, and to advance important legislative initiatives, like her bill on LGBTQI+ Data Collection that passed the House just last month, which would help ensure that key decisions allocating federal dollars and establishing budget priorities take our community into account. We are thrilled to support her in her campaign for re-election,” said Justin Sanchez, President, Stonewall Democratic Club.
“I have enjoyed a long and productive partnership with the Stonewall Democratic Club, and I am deeply humbled to have their support in my campaign for re-election,” said Rep. Maloney.
