$50M FOR GUN VIOLENCE RESEARCH IN HOUSE FUNDING BILL:
Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (NY-12) and US Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), lead sponsors of the Gun Violence Prevention Research Act, released the following joint statement after the US House of Representatives passed a spending bill that includes $50 million for gun violence research. The spending package must still pass in the Senate and get the support of the White House. Maloney and Markey’s Gun Violence Prevention Research Act would fund research at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on firearm safety and gun violence prevention at $50 million per year for Fiscal Years 2020-2025.
